Shenandoah Harris was born and raised in Denver, Colorado. From a young age she was involved in both Theater and Dance. In 2008 Shenandoah moved to California where she continued to train seriously as a dancer studying at several schools across the Bay Area including Teen Dance Company, Menlo Park Academy of Dance, Ballet San Jose and Alonzo King Lines Ballet.

 

Shenandoah was accepted to the University of California Santa Barbara in 2012. She was also accepted into the UCSB Dance Department's Bachelor in Fine Arts program under the direction of Christopher Pilafian, Nancy Colahan, Jerry Pearson, Christina Mccarthy, Mira Kingsley and Valerie Huston. In her Senior Year of college Shenandoah was invited on the UCSB Dance Company that toured in California and internationally through Cyprus, Prague and Italy. As a member of the UCSB Dance Company she performed as a soloist in Jose Limon's work Dances For Isadora: Maenad as well as works created by Cherice Barton, Nancy Colahan, Christina Mccarthy, Valerie Huston and Jerry Person. She also was asked to set a piece on the company that was performed in the tour through California at Cal Arts as well as at the ACDA 2016 Conference. 

During her sophomore year of college she discovered the world of Technical Theater and began working as a Lighting and Sound Technician for the UCSB Theater and Dance Department. Through her work she fell in love with the world of Lighting Design and picked up a second degree in Theater Production and Design. Shenandoah has designed many of the department's dance concert and worked professionally as a lighting designer at UC Santa Barbara. While on tour with the UCSB Dance Company Shenandoah also acted as the Lighting Designer while the company was abroad in Europe. 

In 2016 Shenandoah graduated with a BFA in Performance and Choreography, a Minor in Theater Production and Design receiving High Honors along with a University Award of Distinction. Shenandoah is currently living in Los Angeles, California and is always in the pursuit of blending her passions for performance, choreography and design to create a curated and elevated expression of the human experience. 

Shenandoah is currently a company member on Maura Townsend's Project 21 Dance and Wilson Vu's NöVUS dance project. She also is a collaborating member with Kristen Shapero's TAL Dance Experience. Please check the UPCOMING page for information about her performances, choreography, and design work.
